When you’re a kid everything is so big
Days last forever, just like all that you did
But time sneaks up without warning
And somehow the magic gets taken away
And who gets to say when it’s over anyway?
Who can’t remember that very first kiss?
Holding a hand that somehow just seemed to fit
Then she was gone, I got older
The space that she left made me just so much colder
And who gets to say when it’s over anyway?
So how does it work that the years fly by
But the days don’t remain?
Where does it all go, the fun and the love?
Who gets to say when enough is enough?
Nothing’s forever, not even the past
Memories just linger but they never last
Some shine out strong like a beacon
A light in a mind, burning and seeking
